Blvd. Mall Update #2

Wednesday, December 13, 2023 - The boulevard mall is being left to fall apart.

Supervisor Brian Kulpa & the Amherst Town Board are raising taxes 11.42%, getting ‘awards’ of $31 million (taxpayer?) dollars from Kathy Hochul for the site infrastructure, noting $10 million in the 2024 budget for demo and $17 million for more infrastructure, and Supervisor Brian Kulpa has hinted at a purchase price of $25 million for the mall by the TOA. Supervisor Kulpa has said many times that the demo will start spring of 2024 - but the mall is still owned privately and a legal battle is in progress with JCPenney who owns part of the land. Now Kulpa flip flops saying Demo will begin next year or 2025, depending on whether it’s a private developer or the town that does the work” then right after says ‘The plan is for the town to acquire the properties, then sell them back to the two developers once the legal hurdles are cleared.’

Below are some pictures from 12/13/23.

Residents want the mall to have value to taxpayers and the community sooner than later and not at an enormous cost to the taxpayers for a 10 year+ project to fulfill Hochul’s housing/condo initiative for resume building.

Did you hear that the Galleria just got a new cinnamon bun store and jewelers?
