Kulpa Keeps Confusing
Public on Costco
Brian Kulpa keeps telling the public different opening dates… meanwhile Yuba County announced May 2022 that they would get a new Costco. Their Costco had delays causing the original opening date to get pushed back several times & yet their Costco is already open.
Amherst’s site for Costco is currently a pile of rubble (April 2, 2024). Keep coming back here for updates.
Feb. 12, 2024: Both Kulpa and Baynes tell 7 News the store could be up and running by the end of the year (2024) per WKBW
Dec. 7, 2023: “I expect them to start construction in the Spring (2024)”said Kulpa on WBEN
“I expect if they start construction in the Spring we should see a shell by this time next year (Dec. 2024)”
Oct. 16, 2023: “Kulpa thinks the new store will open in the fall of 2025.” -WGRZ
The town of Amherst Engineering department is planning its own traffic study. Kulpa said it isn't Costco-centric.
Meanwhile, Costco’s “New Locations Coming Soon” webpage does not mention Amherst NY.
Aug. 17, 2023: Planning Board approves the site plan for the Amherst Consumer Square/Costco project.
“They (Benderson) will need to get site plan drawings approved with the conditions in order to get a building permit to start construction,” Amherst Principal Planner Scott Marshall said.
July 8, 2023: “Kulpa doesn't have a definite date for when the project will be finished. He says that depends on the weather and construction process.” -WGRZ
