Northtown Plaza / Station 12
Message to residents on a hot topic talking point lately.
The Northtown Plaza (also known as Station 12) is all private development.
Supervisor Brian Kulpa didn’t kick out tenants and the town board doesn’t really have control over what happens there.
The Blvd. Mall is a different story and is a focus of Kulpa and the Town Board to pleas Gov. Hochul’s ‘housing’ (apartments, not single family) goals and SUNY / University at Buffalo. Which is why Hochul ‘awarded’ $31 million to get the sewer infrastruture proper between there and UB.
It will result in student housing and primarily focused on amenities for college students. For example, stuffing 5,000 students into 1,000 apartments on the corner of busy Maple & Niagara Falls Blvd. So, when people complain about traffic or that is studied, the only remedy will be to expand the NFTA Metro down the Blvd. and to UB.
Connect the dots. But please, don’t confuse Northtown Plaza’s long and frustrating vacancy with the control of the Town Board. Focus on the Blvd. Mall project and the destruction of historical Westwood please!
