Town Board… Thankful??
Thanksgiving - a time to be thankful! A simple, easy to remember, long standing concept… Right?
Surely, the Amherst Town Board should have a lot to be thankful for right now, especially after Kulpa, Berger, Szukala, & Lavin passed the 11% tax increase to residents for their wish list of urgent projects.
A quick check of their “For Amherst” Facebook pages led to these findings:
Brian Kulpa had no Thanksgiving message of gratitude to share with the community. “THE”Amherst Town Supervisor Brian Kulpa’s Facebook page is left frozen at a post about Thanksgiving’s garbage… He was able to post a video 3 years ago with a quick “Happy Thanksgiving” to Amherst and even last year Kulpa posted a Happy Thanksgiving photo after that year’s 7.87% tax hike. However, this year Brian is about all about the taking - no giving, no thanks.
Mike Szukala just got re-elected days ago… Thankful? Well, Suzkala attempted to show some gratitude to Amherst, voters, & tax payers by ‘sharing’ other people’s (Williamsville Fire Dept. & ToA Rec. & Waste Committee) personal crafted & posted Thanksgiving messages - but couldn’t even take 5 minutes to create his own. Hey! Why be original & genuine when you can grab what you need from other people easier, faster, and at their work & expense.
Shawn Lavin also had no message of thanks or gratitude, leaving his page on a post about FREE HUGS! Upon closer examination it wasn’t figuratively hugging the town that he gets the privilege of serving, it was just of a free hug he was given a few weeks ago.
Jacqui Berger has been on the Town Board since 2018 (pushing a total of 36% tax increase) and yet her Facebook page had no acknowledgement of gratefulness to her community, instead she left it at a post about Floss… no not flossing the turkey out of your teeth, but about telling people to go elect her buddy on election day.
Deborah Bruch Bucki left her Facebook on Juneteenth. No Thanksgiving message from Bucki… BUT we do Thank You for voting no on the increase to taxes with the cap breach this year.
Maybe at the next Town Board Meeting (Dec. 4th at 7pm at 5583 Main St.) they will wish those in attendance a belated Happy Thanksgiving and show some appreciation.
