Message: Town of Amherst Board,
I moved my family from the Southtowns to the Northtowns in 2005, when looking for a our first home we decided on Amherst for the community and schools. We have resided in Amherst ever since! Now almost 20 years later as I approach retirement age I am faced with the choice to keep working to hopefully afford to stay in Amherst or sell my home and leave the community we have grown to love over the last 20 years. That is the choice your tax hikes and overspending has left me with. I don't need or want another park to be added to the 32 that already exist in Amherst. Including the Campus Drive "Park" that is nothing more than a neglected patch of grass or Fetto Park with its sidewalk, useless gazebo and handful of benches. I surely don't need an 8 million dollar tax payer funded indoor theatre that only has one tenant and charges $1 a year for rent. I am sure many of the residents would much rather have the undersized sewer systems updated so that sewage doesn't back up into their homes on rainy days instead of $33million dollars spent on LED lights that other towns managed to get for free. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT to pay a penny for the development of the Blvd mall that will only put profits in the pockets of the developers and not into the town coffers you insist on bleeding dry only to then come for more from every taxpayer in Amherst without so much as a passing thought to the hardships you are causing the very people who elected you in the first place. You should be ashamed of your actions!
